>Encaustic Invitational

>I will be exhibiting A Tangent in the Conrad Wilde Gallery Fourth Annual Encaustic Invitational in Tucson, Arizona, March 7-28, 2009. The opening reception is March 7, 2009 from 6-9 pm. I had the good fortune to exhibit in the Conrad Wilde Gallery Third Annual Encaustic Invitational in March 2008. It was a beautiful and compelling survey of North American artists.

>Lucuna, Beauty in Decay

>For this recent series of solar plate etchings, Lucuna, I found inspiration in the beautiful transition of autumnal flowers withering. The haunting beauty of their decay consumed me for weeks in my studio. I could not get enough of the velvety richness of black ink as the images emerged from it’s depths. This series of five, 10″ x 8″ etchings can be seen at the Midday Gallery in Englewood, New Jersey.

>I’d Rather Be in My Studio

>Because I am always being asked about my current work, I started this blog. Of course I would rather be in my studio than write about it. Keeping my blog up to date is on my list of New Year’s resolutions.  I think it will be easier than exercising more, maybe.

I should start with a recap of my show. The opening for the exhibition of my encaustic/mixed media paintings in New York, Artifacts of Gains and Losses was wonderful. The reception was very well attended and I sold a lot of work. It was a great night.

Disembark 24″ x 30″, caused a bit of a stir as a few people wanted to buy it.

Gihon Two 48″ x 20.5″, is one of the pieces that sold and has attracted the attention of a Chelsea Gallery. It really was a great night.
